Smart Film is a switchable PDLC privacy film that turns from frosted (private) to Clear when powered on. Apply it to any new or existing glass, or order pre-laminated panels at https://smartplexi.com/ for new builds. Switch in 50–100 ms with the push of a button.
PDLC Smart Film Technology comes in multiple grades from Generic unpredictable quality to certified ETL Listed and UL Rated Premium Architectural grade. There are different manufacturing techniques and methods. Smart Film that is certified to be manufactured in the USA needs to meet National Electrical Code and will have an ETL / UL Stamp on it is rated to be of premium performance rating from classic good all the way up to Architectural Premium Grade Smart Tint. Generic films are less expensive and come from foreign countries meaning they may work but will not be NEC compliant and generally designed for non-uv exposure interior surfaces with unpredictable non consistent performance.
Genuine Smart Film and Architectural Grade premium Smart Tint is Dimmable! We can not speak for generic smart film as the unpredictable quality may not be able to sustain the necessary voltage to properly dim without having issues.
